Appeal Rejected: Dangerous Dog Owner Faces Heavy Penalties After Lloyd Park Attack |
||
|
The appeal of property developer Dr Anwar Ansari against his conviction for having dogs dangerously out of control has been dismissed following a two-day hearing on 30th and 31st October 2025, confirming a comprehensive set of penalties after a serious incident in Lloyd Park. Ansari, 67, was found guilty of six offences under the Dangerous Dogs Act after his three Turkish Kangal dogs escaped from an enclosure in Coombe Park on 23 July 2023. The dogs launched a rampage through Lloyd Park, attacking a jogger, injuring another dog, and killing livestock in a nearby garden. The appeal court upheld the original sentence handed down at Willesden Magistrates’ Court, which includes: Financial Penalties Fines: Compensation: Kennelling Costs: CPS Costs: Victim Surcharge: Total Financial Penalty: £105,905 Additional Sanctions The conviction was secured thanks to the instrumental work of PC Samuel Pike from the Park Hill and Whitgift Safer Neighbourhood Team, alongside the Metropolitan Police Status Dog Unit, whose expertise and diligence were critical throughout the investigation and prosecution process. The court’s decision brings closure to a distressing episode for the community and reinforces the importance of responsible dog ownership in public spaces like Lloyd Park.
